Well you have to love hydroplanes at they are pretty much the fastest thing on the water. Hydroplanes float on top of the water and use it for lift and steering. The design of these boats forces the water downward causing lift to the boat. This is called planing thus the term hydroplane.
Although most hydroplane designs have stayed relatively the same through the years, a few things have changed. The curved front now has what is called a pickled fork bow. Basically the same with a couple feet of indentaion allowing for air flow in the very front of the curved forks.
Many have tried to use car engines in hydroplanes but most of these attempts have proven to be non competitive. Their are limited class racing series which allow entry level racers and owners to get their start.
